Ashkan Mokhtarian has withdrawn from his flyweight bout against Kai Kara France at UFC Adelaide citing injury. MMAjunkie first reported the news early this morning.

UFC Fight Night 142 takes place next Sunday 2 December at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, South Australia.

The UFC is now seeking an oceanic-based replacement opponent for France who was scheduled to make his UFC debut.

France, 17-7, appeared on The Ultimate Fighter 24 in 2016, where he claimed the only knockout of the season against Terrence Mitchell in the first round of the show.

Since the Kiwi signed in August, the fate of the UFC flyweight division has become unclear. After long-time champion Demetrious Johnson lost the belt and was traded to ONE Championship, a number of flyweight competitors have been released from the organisation or invited to move up to bantamweight.

With the dissolution of this fight, just three fights remain scheduled in the flyweight division, including a superfight between current champion Henry Cejudo and bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw.

UFC Adelaide, or UFC Fight Night 142, will be held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, South Australia on December 2 (AU).
