Each year on 25thApril, ceremonies of remembrance and gratitude are held for us to reflect and show respect for all those who have served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations around the world.
ANZAC Day services are usually held at thousands of locations throughout Australia and New Zealand, including Dawn Services, however due to Covid-19 these services have been cancelled. For those who want to make personal commemorations – the Dawn Service at the Australian War Memorial will be broadcast live; however will not be open for public attendance.
ABC Local Radio is supporting an RSL Australia campaign for Australians to stand in their own driveways or on their balconies at dawn on 25thApril 2020. Together they will:
- Hear the Ode and The Last Post played on the radio.
- Share a 1-minute silence together
